Assam: Police Raid Leads to Arrest of Three Suspected Drug Traffickers in Margherita
Northeast Desk, 10th May: In a late-night operation on May 9, Margherita police raided a rented house near Birla Gate in Ledo, resulting in the apprehension of three individuals and the seizure of a significant quantity of drugs. Acting on credible information, the police team conducted the operation and arrested Sanjib Kumar, Thang A, and Maya Magar. During the raid, law enforcement recovered 29 packets containing a total of 329.81 grams of suspected contraband substances.
Sambhavi Mishra, IPS, Margherita Sub-Divisional Police Officer, praised the successful operation, stating, “This is our third major consignment recovery in recent times, and it is the largest so far. The approximate value of the seized drugs is between Rs. 8 to 10 lakh. We have also recovered around Rs. 1 lakh in cash, and the counting is still underway.”
The Margherita police have intensified their crackdown on drug trafficking in various areas under the sub-division, with several successful raids conducted in recent months. The three arrested individuals are currently in police custody, and further investigation is ongoing to dismantle the drug syndicate’s network and supply chain.
