Assam Police Raid Nabs Seven Alleged IPL Gamblers in Late-Night Crackdown
Guwahati, 6th April: In a swift and decisive move against illegal betting linked to the Indian Premier League (IPL), authorities conducted a late-night raid at Kajalgaon police station, resulting in the apprehension of seven individuals purportedly involved in illicit gambling.
The arrested individuals, identified as Noor Islam alias Moina from the Dhaligaon-Baikhungaon area, Kazimuddin Mandal, Abdul Jubbar alias Pagla, Abdul Wahhab Sarkar, Taizuddin Sarkar, and Halimul Islam from Dhaligaon-Satipur area, along with Motiur Rahman alias Moti Driver, were caught in the act during the operation.
The raid, which unfolded at 10 pm on April 5, targeted IPL gamblers at the jirani chara of Dhaligaon branch Pretrellium Mazdoor Union, situated in front of the IOC gate of Bongaigaon refinery at Dhaligaon, within the jurisdiction of the Kajalgaon police station.
Authorities seized a substantial amount of cash, multiple mobile phones, five motorcycles, scooters, and various incriminating documents from the arrested individuals during the operation.
This successful crackdown highlights law enforcement’s unwavering commitment to combating illegal betting activities associated with high-profile events such as the Indian Premier League.
