Guwahati: The Assam Police continued their ongoing campaign against livestock smugglers by successfully retrieving up to 25 cattle heads in the suburbs of Guwahati, on Saturday.
According to reports, the vehicle carrying cattle heads was on its way to Guwahati from Nagaon when it was stopped by the police in Sonapur.
Before the authorities could apprehend the driver he fled away.
Further investigation into the matter is on.
In Golaghat, 47 cattle heads were rescued. Overcrowding in the truck where the cattle were completely packed led to their seizure.
