Assam Police Rescues 27 Dogs in Golaghat From Being Smuggled; 3 Held

Guwahati: The police in Assam’s Golaghat district rescued at least 27 on Sunday from the grasp of animal traffickers. 

Acting on a tip-off, a team of officials led by Dhansiri Sub-Division Police Officer Trinayan Bhuyan launched an operation and intercepted a suspicious vehicle passing through Golaghat Jamuguri in the wee hours of the morning.

The vehicle ignored police commands and made an attempt to flee the scene. Police pursued it and eventually nabbed it near the border at Nagabasti.

After the vehicle was caught, as many as 27 dogs were rescued by the police officials.

Three persons have also been arrested by the police. 

Meanwhile, a case has been registered against the three accused at Sarupathar Police Station.

Moreover, an investigation has also been launched into the matter by the officials.

The dogs will be kept at the Sarupathar Indoor Stadium with the assistance of Sarupathar MLA Biswajit Phukan.

Bhuyan informed that the MLA has contacted an NGO from Guwahati to take the rescued dogs from Sarupathar.
