Guwahati: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Assam Police seized yaba tablets worth approximately ₹24 crore and arrested two individuals in Sribhumi district near the Mizoram border on March 16.

Superintendent of Police Partha Protim Das stated that the vehicle, originating from Mizoram’s Champhai district, was stopped at the Puwamara bypass.

A thorough inspection revealed a secret compartment containing 80,000 yaba tablets, a powerful stimulant composed of methamphetamine and caffeine.

The arrested individuals are residents of Cachar district in Assam’s Barak Valley. Authorities have launched a deeper investigation to uncover the supply chain and identify those linked to the trafficking network.

A senior officer confirmed that the estimated street value of the seized drugs matches figures provided by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
