Assam Police Seize 440 Litres of Crude Oil Condensate, 2 Arrested

Guwahati: In a major crackdown against illegal condensate oil, the Assam Police seized 440 litres of crude oil condensate in Duliajan and arrested two persons in this connection.

The arrested persons are identified as Deepak Changmai and Deep Hazarika.

Acting on a tip-off, the Duliajan police intercepted a Bolero car carrying illegal condensate oil in the Madhuting area of the oil town and apprehended both the oil smugglers.

It needs to be mentioned that Deepak Changmai is a resident of Demow in Sivasagar district while Deep Hazarika is a resident of Dirak village under Kakopathar revenue circle in Tinsukia district.

Theft of crude oil has been a major cause of concern for oil companies like Oil India Limited and the ONGC in Assam.

Oil India Limited has even procured drones for surveillance of their pipelines and other wares.

The surveillance is mainly done to curb pilferage of crude oil, condensate, theft of pipes, tampering with wellheads, and tapping of crude oil delivery pipelines.
