Assam Police Seize 720 Bottles of Illicit Cough Syrup in Kamrup

Guwahati, 9th October: In a major late-night operation, Dadra police in Kamrup district intercepted a vehicle smuggling with a large quantity of banned substances, marking a significant success in the ongoing battle against illegal drug trade.

The raid, conducted in the early hours, resulted in the seizure of 720 bottles of illicit cough syrup, often misused as a recreational drug.

The vehicle, with registration number AS01DZ6937, was en route from Guwahati to Hajo when it was stopped at a police checkpoint.

The driver attempted to flee upon noticing the police officials, leading to a high-speed chase.

The police successfully apprehended the vehicle at Borka in Kamrup district.

The driver identified as Azar Ali, also known as Dudu, a resident of Hajo’s Adhiapara area, was detained by the police.

Authorities are conducting further investigations to determine the origin and intended destination of the smuggled contraband.
