Assam: Police Seize Cannabis in Gohpur in Ongoing Anti-Drug Efforts

Guwahati, 5th April: In ongoing efforts to combat illicit drug trafficking in Assam, police seized 17 kg of Cannabis in Gohpur on April 5.

Acting on specific inputs, Assam Police led a search team and confiscated a significant quantity of drugs from a person identified as Raja Basumatary. The seized drugs are estimated to be worth around Rs 80,000.

Police are continuing their investigation to uncover any further linkages related to the seizure.

Meanwhile, in a monumental breakthrough towards achieving a drug-free Assam, state police intercepted a staggering 21 kilograms of heroin in Silchar. Valued at approximately Rs 210 crore in the illicit market, this record-breaking seizure resulted from a coordinated operation led by the Special Task Force of Assam in conjunction with the diligent efforts of the Cachar Police.​
