Assam Police Seize Cannabis Worth Rs 30 lakh; Arrest Three Drug Peddlers
Guwahati: Assam police have made a significant breakthrough in their fight against drug smuggling and trafficking, seizing cannabis worth Rs 30 lakh in Cachar district.
Three drug peddlers were arrested in connection with the seizure, which was made possible by reliable inputs and a successful operation at Krishnapur Part II, under the jurisdiction of Silchar police station.
Acting on the intelligence, police personnel intercepted an e-rickshaw, leading to the arrest of three individuals. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to his official X handle to praise the police for their achievement, stating “Great job, @assampolice!”.
This seizure is not an isolated incident, as Assam police had earlier seized 98,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 30 crore in Cachar, along with suspected heroin in Dhubri, in two separate operations. Two individuals were arrested in connection with these seizures.
The successful anti-narcotics operation was conducted by the Cachar police in Chandrapur Part II, Kakmara, under Lakhipur Police Station. The operation resulted in the arrest of a suspect and the seizure of Yaba tablets, along with Rs 3.5 lakh in cash.
