Assam Police Seize Cannabis Worth Rs 4 Crore in Major Bust
Guwahati, 19th May: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Assam police seized cannabis valued at approximately Rs 4 crore on May 18. The operation, executed by the Khatkhati Police, was meticulously planned following specific intelligence inputs.
The raid took place in Bokajan, a town in Karbi Anglong district. Authorities intercepted a truck bearing the West Bengal registration number WB 76 B 2883. Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, police discovered a massive consignment of cannabis, packaged in 75 packets and weighing around eight quintals.
Radheshyam Sahni, a resident of Motihari city in Bihar’s East Champaran district, was apprehended in connection with the smuggling operation. Sahni has been charged with smuggling the contraband item and is currently in police custody.
This significant seizure underscores the ongoing efforts by Assam police to combat drug trafficking in the region and maintain public safety.
