Assam Police Seize Drugs Worth ₹2.5 Crore in Twin Operations, Two Peddlers Arrested

Guwahati: Assam Police carried out two successful anti-narcotics operations, leading to the seizure of contraband worth over ₹2.5 crore and the arrest of two suspected peddlers, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Thursday evening.

In Cachar district, police intercepted a peddler and recovered 410 grams of heroin valued at ₹2.5 crore in the illegal market. In a separate operation at Sribhumi, authorities seized 630 bottles of cough syrup, commonly misused as an intoxicant, and arrested another accused.

Sharing the update on X, the chief minister wrote, “Twice Struck, Twice Stopped. In two separate operations, @cacharpolice seized 410g of heroin worth ₹2.5 crore and arrested one peddler. In another operation, Sribhumi police seized 630 bottles of cough syrup and arrested one peddler. @assampolice stands united with one goal – #AssamAgainstDrugs.”

The twin busts add to a series of recent high-profile crackdowns as Assam continues its intensified drive against narcotics trafficking in the state.
