Assam Police Seize Heroin Worth Crores in Cachar and Karbi Anglong
Guwahati, June 28: In a series of successful operations, the Assam Police have seized significant quantities of heroin in separate incidents in Cachar and Karbi Anglong districts of Assam.
In Cachar district, a special operation conducted at Digharkhal Toll Gate led to the recovery of 1.881 kilograms of heroin. Three individuals were apprehended in connection with this seizure, and the total value of the recovered drugs is estimated to be Rs 9.5 crore.
Simultaneously, in Karbi Anglong district, police intercepted a vehicle at Borpathar and seized 1.005 kilograms of heroin. One suspect was arrested during this operation.
Additionally, in another operation by Cachar Police, 561 grams of heroin were recovered, and two individuals were apprehended. The seized heroin is valued at approximately Rs 3 crore.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma commended the Assam Police team for their proactive efforts in combating drug trafficking and ensuring a drug-free state. These operations mark significant steps towards curbing the illicit drug trade and maintaining public safety in Assam.
