Assam Police Seize Heroin Worth Rs 7 Crores, Arrest 3 in Cachar District Operations

Guwahati, 11th May: In a significant crackdown on the illegal drug trade, Assam police have seized 1.2 kg of heroin valued at Rs 7 crores in two separate operations conducted in Cachar district. The successful operations mark a significant blow to the narcotics trade in the region and underscore law enforcement’s commitment to combatting drug trafficking.

Numal Mahatta, Superintendent of Police of Cachar district, provided details of the operations, stating, “The narcotics were seized in two separate operations at Dholai and Silchar areas. Based on intelligence input, a team of Cachar district police launched an operation in the Dholai area and recovered 55 soap cases containing heroin. In the second operation, police recovered 45 soap cases containing heroin in Silchar area.”

The swift and decisive actions of the police have resulted in the apprehension of three individuals allegedly involved in drug trafficking and possession. These individuals are currently in police custody, where they face charges related to their illicit activities.

The successful operations highlight the effectiveness of intelligence-driven policing and collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies in tackling the scourge of drug trafficking.
