Assam Police Seize Key Documents Linked with Al-Qaeda, ABT
Guwahati: The Goalpara district police confiscated a number of important papers pertaining to Al-Qaeda and Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) following the arrests of six people connected to the terrorist group in a week.
According to the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Goalpara district, VV Rakesh Reddy, a police team led by arrested accused Hafijur Rahman Mufti conducted a search operation on Tuesday night at his shop on the grounds of Markazul Muriff Quriana Madrasa, which is located under Jogighopa police station in Bongaigaon district.
The search operation was carried out in conjunction with Matia police station case number 105/22, and various important documents were recovered, including an ABT brochure in Bangla and a suspected AQIS logo from the area.
Abdus Subhan, the imam of the Tinkunia Shantipur Mosque under the Mornoi police station, and Jalaluddin Sheikh, the imam of the Tilapara Natun Mosque under the Matia police station in Goalpara district were the two imams who had previously been detained by the Goalpara district police and were linked to both Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) and Al-Qaeda Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) in the lower Assam district.
