Assam Police Seize Yaba Tablets Worth ₹30 Crore, Suspected Heroin in Major Anti-Drug Operations
Guwahati: Assam Police carried out two major anti-narcotics operations, leading to the seizure of 98,000 Yaba tablets worth ₹30 crore in Cachar and suspected heroin in Dhubri, resulting in the arrest of two individuals.
In Cachar, acting on credible intelligence, police conducted an operation in Chandrapur Part II, Kakmara, under Lakhipur Police Station. The raid led to the arrest of a suspect and the seizure of the large Yaba consignment, along with ₹3.5 lakh in cash, believed to be drug proceeds.
In a separate operation, Dhubri police raided a house in Jhagrarpar, recovering 23.35 grams of suspected heroin. Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Sub-Inspectors Jyotirmoy Das and Nilim Talukdar searched the residence of Akbar Ali in Jhagrarpar Part-I, where they discovered two soap cases filled with heroin. Ali was subsequently arrested.
Authorities have confirmed that legal proceedings are underway, and investigations are being carried out to identify potential links to a larger drug trafficking network.
The successful operations reinforce Assam Police’s ongoing crackdown on narcotics, aimed at curbing the rising drug menace in the state.
