Assam Police Seized Cannabis, 2 Held

Guwahati: Two peoples were arrested by Sonari police on charges of smuggling narcotics on Sunday.

The two arrestees have been identified as Deepak Sonar and Moon Dey.

According to reports, the two were smuggling in cannabis from Nagaland and were arrested in Sonari district of Assam.

Moreover, a motorcycle, which belonged to the two smugglers, has also been seized

Officials informed that based on specific information about the two individuals carrying large quantities of illicit substances, acting on which the smugglers were held.

Officials informed earlier today that Karimganj police also conducted an anti-narcotics operation in which a sizable shipment of marijuana was intercepted.

According to police, 33 kg of cannabis were found during the operation in the Karimganj village of Nilambazar.

Three people, including a woman were being held on suspicion of smuggling and trafficking in illegal drugs, officials informed.

They were recognised as Anema Devi, Bipin Kumar, and Ramen Kumar by the police.
