Assam Police Seizes 21,000 Yaba Tablets in Inter-State Operation
Guwahati, 14th June: Acting on confidential intelligence, Cachar police in Assam conducted a targeted operation along the inter-state border, resulting in the apprehension of three individuals found in possession of a significant cache of 21,000 Yaba tablets.
The operation, based on secret inputs, targeted an area known for cross-border drug trafficking activities. The seized consignment, believed to have been transported from a neighbouring state, underscores the pervasive nature of the illicit drug trade across state lines.
In a parallel anti-drug effort in Karimganj, authorities intercepted a staggering haul of banned drugs valued at approximately Rs 66 crore in the Lamajuar area on June 12. Led jointly by IGP STF Partha Sarthi Mahanta and Karimganj Superintendent of Police Partha Pratim Das, the operation discovered two lakh twenty thousand Yaba tablets concealed within the backlights of an unnumbered Bolero Camper vehicle originating from Mizoram.
The coordinated efforts resulted in the arrest of three individuals from Tripura – Khairul Hussain, Nabir Hussain, and Man Mia – suspected to be involved in the illegal drug transportation network.
Commenting on the successful operation, IGP Partha Sarthi Mahanta emphasized the relentless efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region, reaffirming the commitment of law enforcement to curb the menace and protect communities from the harmful effects of narcotics.
