Assam Police Seizes Drugs Worth Crores in Karimganj; CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Commends Efforts

Guwahati, 23rd June: Assam Police have intensified their crackdown on narcotics trafficking with successful operations in Karimganj, seizing drugs valued at crores in two separate raids.

In the first operation, authorities intercepted a vehicle transporting 974 grams of heroin, estimated to be worth Rs 5 crore in the illicit market. One individual was apprehended during the operation.

Simultaneously, in the second raid, police seized 10,000 YABA tablets valued at Rs 3.5 crore. Another suspect was apprehended in connection with this significant drug seizure.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded the efforts of the Karimganj Police, taking to X to acknowledge their proactive actions. He tweeted, “Based on intelligence inputs, two separate anti-narcotic operations were conducted by @karimganjpolice. Intercepted a vehicle carrying 974 grams of heroin valued at ₹5 crore, one apprehended. 10,000 YABA tablets worth ₹3.5cr seized, and one person apprehended. Commendable work @assampolice!”

These operations underscore Assam Police’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and safeguarding community welfare. The seizures represent a significant milestone in their ongoing efforts to disrupt illicit drug networks operating in the region.
