Assam Police Seizes Heroin Worth Rs 4 Crore in Amingaon, One Arrested
Guwahati: The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police successfully intercepted a vehicle transporting a substantial quantity of heroin in Amingaon during an anti-narcotics operation.
The contraband, valued at approximately Rs 4 crore, was being smuggled from Mizoram to Lower Assam.
Led by Additional Superintendent of Police Kalyan Kumar Pathak, the operation resulted in the seizure of 600 grams of heroin meticulously concealed within a hidden compartment of a truck bearing registration number NL 01 AE 1147.
A thorough search of the vehicle revealed 50 packets of the illicit substance.
One individual, identified as Amir Hussain Khan, a resident of Barpeta, was apprehended in connection with the incident.
Police sources indicate that Khan is suspected to be a key member of a larger drug trafficking network operating in the region.
The STF is currently conducting further investigations to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in this illegal trade.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to taking stringent legal action against all individuals implicated in drug-related offenses.
