Assam Police Seizes Large Quantity of Banned Cough Syrup in Anti-Drug Trafficking Operation

Guwahati, 19th November: In an ongoing crackdown against illegal drug trafficking, Assam Police achieved significant success on November 18 by intercepting a truck near the Assam-Tripura border and seizing a substantial quantity of banned cough syrup.

Acting on credible information, a police team conducted a search operation along the Assam-Tripura border in Chudaibari, Karimganj district. The search led to the interception of a truck, and upon thorough inspection, authorities discovered a hidden compartment containing 12,500 bottles of Phensedyl cough syrup. The estimated value of the seized contraband is reported to be Rs 30 lakh.

The driver of the truck, identified as Chena Ram, was promptly arrested by Karimganj Police. An ongoing investigation has been initiated to delve further into the circumstances surrounding the illegal transportation of the banned cough syrup.
