Guwahati, 17th August: In a significant operation, Assam police executed another successful raid, this time in Karimganj district, resulting in the seizure of a substantial quantity of illicit ganja with an estimated value of Rs 3 crore. The operation took place on Wednesday night when a truck was intercepted by a team from Karimganj police.
Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, authorities discovered approximately 500 kg of illicit ganja concealed in a hidden compartment. The truck was reportedly en route from Agartala in Tripura to Guwahati.
Sources indicate that the truck driver managed to escape by jumping off his vehicle and fleeing the scene before he could be apprehended by law enforcement.
This latest operation is a testament to the continuous efforts of the Assam police to curb the illegal drug trade and maintain the safety and well-being of the region’s residents. Investigations are ongoing to uncover any further links associated with this case.
