Guwahati: On Saturday, another encounter took place in Assam and this time, a person accused of drug peddling was injured in an encounter as he tried to escape from the police in Morigaon’s Jagiroad.
The accused has been identified as Baharul Islam, a resident of the Silbhanga area who was arrested last night along with 11.4 grams of suspected heroin.
Morigaon’s Superintendent of Police Aparna Natarajan told My NewsNE that the accused had tried to escape police custody from the Jagiroad Police Station.
He was shot on his left leg while he tried to evade the police and as per the police, he was shot as there were no options left to stop him from escaping.
