Guwahati: Another person accused of drug peddling has been killed in an encounter with the Assam Police on Saturday night and this time the incident has taken place in Samaguri in Assam’s Nagaon district.
The deceased person has been identified as Khairul Islam who was suspected to be directly involved in illegal drug trades.
As per information, the person was killed during an operation by a team of police in Khatowal on Saturday night. During the operation, the accused was spotted and when asked to surrender, Khairul had allegedly tried to flee from the spot threatening the police personnel with a sharp weapon.
The police claimed that since Khairul had become a threat to the personnel on duty, they had to resort to shooting him in self-defense. The accused succumbed to his injuries after the fire.
