Assam Police Snag Silchar Duo with 23g Heroin Haul
Guwahati: In a decisive move against the narcotics trade, Assam Police on Sunday intercepted a bus and arrested two youths with a significant quantity of heroin. The swift action, based on a credible tip-off, led to the recovery of 23.24 grams of the illicit substance, cleverly concealed within two soap cases.
The duo, returning from Silchar, were apprehended on the spot and are now facing charges under the stringent Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. This successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to curb the flow of drugs in the region.
Police officials stated that the two individuals were taken into custody immediately following the recovery. While the investigation is in its early stages, a comprehensive case has been registered against them. The focus has now shifted to a larger, more intricate task: tracing the source of the drugs.
Authorities have reason to believe that a supplier, likely operating from within Assam, is responsible for this consignment. Efforts are being intensified to identify and apprehend this key figure, with the aim of dismantling the supply chain and sending a strong message to those involved in the drug trade.
