Assam Police Sub-Inspector Arrested for Allegedly Demanding Bribe In Chirang

Guwahati, 10th January: In a swift operation, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC), Assam, apprehended a police sub-inspector (UB) on January 9 for allegedly demanding a bribe from a complainant to release his vehicles. The accused, identified as Sub Inspector (UB) Chintu Das of Dhaligaon Town Outpost in Chirang, was caught red-handed during the anti-corruption team’s operation based on specific inputs.

According to official sources, Das is accused of demanding Rs 10,000 as bribe money from the complainant. The DVAC, acting on special information, strategically laid a trap, resulting in the arrest of the police sub-inspector.

Chintu Das has been taken into custody, and the necessary legal procedures have been initiated against him. The arrest underscores the authorities’ commitment to combat corruption within the law enforcement agencies and maintain transparency in public services.
