Assam Police Temporarily Suspends Heavy Vehicle Movement on NH-27 Between Jatinga and Harangajao Due to Adverse Conditions
Guwahati, 4th September: The Assam Police has temporarily suspended the movement of heavy vehicles on National Highway-27 (NH-27) between Jatinga and Harangajao in Dima Hasao district. This decision comes in response to frequent rainfall, land subsidence, and ongoing construction work in the area.
In a press release, the police stated that the prohibition applies to heavy commercial vehicles with 12 wheels or more, including long trucks and trailers over 24 feet in length. The press release emphasized that these measures are necessary to ensure the safety of commuters and the structural integrity of the highway.
As a result, vehicles traveling to and from Barak Valley have been instructed to take the alternative route via Meghalaya (National Highway-6) until further notice. The police urged transporters and drivers to adhere to the directive to prevent any accidents or disruptions during this period.
