Assam Police Tightens Border Security Amid Reports of ULFA(I) Militants Near Arunachal Pradesh
Guwahati, 11th August: Assam Police has intensified security measures along its border with Arunachal Pradesh following intelligence reports suggesting the presence of ULFA(I) militants operating in the area. Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh confirmed the development on Sunday, citing the need for heightened vigilance.
DGP Singh revealed that intelligence agencies and local sources have reported a faction of the United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) camping near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border. “From our intelligence agencies and local reports, we have learned that a ULFA(I) group is stationed near the border,” Singh said during a recent program.
In response to these reports, Assam Police has ramped up patrols and surveillance across the border region to mitigate any potential threats or incursions. The increased security measures are aimed at ensuring the safety and stability of the border areas amidst the growing concerns over militant activities.
