Guwahati, 4th August: A shocking incident occurred on Friday in Balajan locality, under Gauripur police station in Assam’s Dhubri district, where the sub-divisional officer (SDO) of Dhubri’s Gauripur Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) and his officials were brutally assaulted by suspected power (electric) thieves.
The injured APDCL official, identified as Monjurul Haque, along with his team, had launched an operation in the area against individuals involved in power theft. However, the assailants attacked them, leaving them severely injured. Among the injured APDCL employees were Mohidul Haque and Rafiqul Haque.
In response to the incident, Assam Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh reported that three individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. He assured that no culprit involved in assaulting a government officer on duty would be spared and instructed the Dhubri police to take appropriate lawful action.
The SDO and the injured APDCL workers are currently receiving medical care at the Dhubri Medical College Hospital.
