Assam: Pregnant Tusker Found Dead In Udalguri
Guwahati: In an unfortunate incident, a pregnant wild elephant was found dead near a village in Udalguri district of Assam on Friday.
It is suspected that the wild tusker died due to shortage of food.
Locals in the area of Bhutiachang village found the carcass and alerted the forest officials.
Forest officials said they will determine the precise reason for the animal’s demise after a post-mortem.
Earlier today, an elephant calf’s carcass was found on a tea estate in the Jorhat district of Assam.
Reports stated that carcass was discovered by locals at Kasojan tea estate in Titabor, after which they informed forest authorities.
It is learned that the calf was roughly three-months-old during the time of its death.
The cause of the elehpant’s death has not been established yet.
