Assam: Prime Accused in Batadrava mob violence arrested

Guwahati: The prime accused of the Batadrava Police Station attack incident have been arrested by the Darrang Police of Assam in the late hours of Thursday.

The arrestee identified as Allauddin, is a resident of Dhing in Nagaon district.

According to reports, accused Allauddin is a notorious dacoit.

With this arrest, the police have now apprehended 11 of the 34 suspects who were identified as having been involved in torching the police station based on video footage.

A mob set fire to the Batadrava Police Station on May 21 after a fish seller, Safiqul Islam, was detained at the station and supposedly died while in police custody.

Following this incident, Nagaon district authorities destroyed the homes of seven people accused of setting fire to the police station on May 22.
