Assam: Prime Suspect in Fatal Road Accident Arrested

Karimganj, July 26, 2024: Sajidul Haque, the main suspect in a tragic road accident that killed six people in Karimganj, Assam, has been apprehended by police.

Haque, a resident of Patharkhandi, was driving a vehicle (registration number AS 11S 8323) without insurance or a valid pollution certificate. He was arrested at Silchar airport after fleeing the accident scene.

The incident has raised significant concerns about road safety and the enforcement of traffic regulations on national highways. Authorities are now facing scrutiny over their measures to control vehicle speeds and ensure compliance with essential safety requirements.

Among the victims was four-year-old Kanmani Sakibul, whose death has devastated her family. The case has ignited a debate on accountability and justice for the victims’ families, especially given the vehicle’s lack of proper documentation.
