Assam: Principal Secretary To Govt, IAS Rajesh Prasad Passes Away

Guwahati: The Principal Secretary of the Assam IAS Rajesh Prasad passed away on Sunday at the Swagat Hospital in Guwahati.

The secretary had previously tested positive for Covid-19 and passed away from complications associated with covid.

The senior IAS officer passed away today about 2:30 pm, according to the doctor’s report. He began undergoing treatment from July 22 at Maligaon’s Swagat Hospital.

Mr. Prasad, an IAS officer from the Assam-Meghalaya cadre and a member of the 1995 batch, served as Chairman of the SLNA WWDC-PMKSY and Principal Secretary of the Assam Excise, Irrigation, Soil Conservation, and Housing and Urban Affairs Departments.

The Indian government’s Housing and Urban Affairs Department stripped him of extra responsibility in April of this year.

Assam Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has condoled the untimely demise of Prasad. Taking to Twitter, Sarma wrote, “Deeply saddened by the demise of Principal Secretary Rajesh Prasad, who passed away in Guwahati due to post-COVID complications. My sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. May his ātman attain sadgati. Om Shanti!”
