Assam: Priyanka Gandhi Slams BJP’s “Appeasement Politics” at Dhubri Rally, Advocates for Public Welfare

Guwahati, 1st May: In a fervent address during an election campaign in Dhubri, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi delivered a scathing critique of the BJP government, accusing it of prioritizing appeasement politics and favoring billionaire businessmen over public interests.

Gandhi’s impassioned speech highlighted India’s diverse religious coexistence, referencing her brother’s nationwide rally as a symbol of national unity. However, she expressed grave concerns over the stifling of media and dissent by the ruling party, alleging a departure from truth.

Drawing a stark contrast between BJP and Congress-led governance, Gandhi criticized alleged mafia rule and neglect of public welfare in Assam under the BJP, emphasizing the detrimental effects of corruption and favoritism towards big businesses.

Addressing pressing issues like rising unemployment and economic hardships, Gandhi attributed them to the government’s focus on self-enrichment rather than public welfare. She condemned inadequate relief measures and soaring commodity prices exacerbated by GST.

Pledging initiatives to uplift women and marginalized communities, Gandhi promised guaranteed monthly income and 50% job reservation for women in central government departments under Congress rule. She criticized BJP’s silence on crises like Manipur violence, alleging selective response.

Accusing the BJP of neglecting tea garden workers’ welfare, Gandhi affirmed Congress’s commitment to addressing socioeconomic inequalities through land distribution and wage increases for workers.

Urging voters to scrutinize government actions, Gandhi reiterated Congress’s manifesto, “Nyay Patra,” aimed at exposing BJP’s false promises and restoring accountability in governance.
