Assam: Prominent TMC Leader Resigns; Speculations of Joining BJP

Guwahati, 11th November: In a surprising turn of events, Dilip Sarma, a significant member of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Assam, has reportedly stepped down from his role within the party.

Sarma, who shouldered media responsibilities for the Assam Trinamool Congress, was spotted at the residence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday morning, fueling speculations of his potential shift to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Adding to the political upheaval, the Working President of Assam Pradesh Youth Congress, Poritush Roy, officially submitted his resignation from the party today.

This development closely follows the departure of another prominent figure, Suresh Borah, the former President of Nagaon District Congress, who severed ties with the party on Friday.

The resignations of Poritush Roy and Suresh Borah are not only notable for their positions but also for their expressed interest in joining the BJP, signaling a significant political realignment. Suresh Borah’s departure, which extended beyond his leadership role to include primary membership, was accompanied by the support of a substantial number of followers, underscoring the potential impact of these moves on the local political landscape.
