Assam: Protest in Sipajhar Over Poor Road Condition
Guwahati: Members of the Nationalist Youth Student Council staged a protest in Duari Para village, Sipajhar subdivision, Darrang district, over the deplorable condition of the Kothamara-Duari Para-Chengeliajhar road.
The road’s dilapidated state has severely impacted daily life, forcing parents to carry their children to school on their shoulders due to the difficulty in commuting.
The poor condition of the road has not only affected pedestrians but also damaged vehicles navigating the damaged path.
Despite repeated complaints, the Public Works Department has failed to take any meaningful action to repair the road, sparking widespread outrage among locals.
The local MLA has faced criticism for not addressing the issue, despite being aware of the road’s poor condition.
The lack of response from the department and the MLA has left the community feeling neglected and frustrated.
The Sipajhar regional Nationalist Youth Student Council organized the protest to demand immediate repairs to the road.
During the protest, women symbolically engaged in fishing on the road to highlight the department’s failure to maintain it.
The protesters are calling for urgent action to repair the road and alleviate the suffering of the local community.
