Assam: Protest Over Panchayat Office Relocation Brings Traffic to a Halt on National Highway in Bihaguri

Assam: Traffic on the national highway near Bihaguri ground to a halt today as residents staged a massive protest opposing the relocation of the No. 2 Bihaguri Village Panchayat office.

Demonstrators, including men and women from the local community, demanded that the Panchayat office remain in its current location within the village.

The protest caused hours-long disruption, leaving vehicles ranging from long-distance buses to trucks and smaller vehicles stranded along the highway. Commuters faced significant inconvenience as the blockade paralyzed transportation in the area, creating a chaotic scene.

Authorities, including law enforcement personnel, were deployed to the site to manage the unrest and prevent the situation from escalating further. Efforts to negotiate with the protesters are underway, as officials seek to address their concerns while restoring normalcy to the highway.
