Assam: Protests Erupt in Bajali Over Land Pattas Under Bashundhara 3.0 Scheme
Assam: Massive protests broke out at the Rayat’s Land Service Committee in Bajali, as hundreds of people demanded the issuance of land pattas under the Bashundhara 3.0 scheme for land they claim to have cultivated for over 150 years.
The protest meeting was led by youth activist Samudra Patgiri, who presided over the gathering and emphasized the historic injustices faced by the people of Bajali regarding their land rights. Protesters expressed frustration over a recent letter issued by the Patasarkusi revenue circle officer, which they believe jeopardizes their claims to the land.
Addressing the crowd, Patgiri stressed the urgency of resolving the matter and announced plans to meet the Bajali District Commissioner and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to demand immediate intervention. He also urged local MLA and minister Ranjit Kumar Das to address the issue and help secure justice for the affected communities.
The demonstrators warned that if their demands remain unmet, they would escalate their movement by organizing a peaceful protest outside the office of the Patasarkusi revenue circle officer. They reaffirmed their commitment to fighting for rightful ownership and called on the government to act swiftly to address their grievances.
