Assam: Protests Erupt in Dibrugarh Against CAA Implementation
Guwahati, 12th March: The Dibrugarh Districts Committee of Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) led a fervent protest today, vehemently opposing the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Assam. In a symbolic gesture of dissent, effigies of the Prime Minister and the Home Minister were set ablaze in Dibrugarh, echoing the discontent among the locals regarding the contentious Act.
In a parallel demonstration, the All Assam Tai Ahom Students Union (AATASU) organized a two-hour sit-in protest in Chowkidinghee, Dibrugarh. The protest underscored the collective demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status and further underscored the ongoing resistance against the implementation of the CAA in the region.
These events reflect the growing unrest and opposition to the CAA in Assam, as various groups and organizations continue to voice their concerns and demand their rights be acknowledged and protected.
