Assam: Protracted Power Cut Disrupts Operations at Salbari IPRO Office
Guwahati: The office of the Information and Public Relations Officer (IPRO) in Salbari subdivision, Baksa district, has been plagued by power cuts for the past two months. This prolonged disruption has severely impacted the office’s daily operations, raising concerns about administrative negligence.
The reason behind the electricity disconnection remains unclear, as employees have refrained from commenting on the matter. Speculation abounds as to whether the electricity department took this step due to unpaid bills, but no official confirmation has been provided regarding the cause.
The office, inaugurated during the tenure of former Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Hagrama Mohilary, now faces critical challenges in carrying out its daily work. Despite repeated power interruptions, no immediate efforts appear to have been made to resolve the situation.
Local residents and stakeholders have expressed dissatisfaction over the issue, urging the authorities to take swift action to restore power and ensure smooth functioning of the government office. The lack of a response from both the office staff and the electricity department has further fueled concerns about governance and accountability in the subdivision.
As of now, no official statement has been issued by the concerned department or district administration regarding the power cut and potential solutions. The situation continues to hinder essential public relations work in the region, raising concerns about the impact on governance and accountability.
