Assam: Psychotropic substances seized in raid at apartment in Guwahati; Two Arrested

Guwahati, 8th December: In yet another operation targeting drug-related activities, psychotropic substances were seized in a raid on an apartment in Guwahati on December 7.

Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch in collaboration with Dispur police conducted a raid at Ganpati Enclave on Sewali Path, Hengrabari, under Dispur Police Station.

During the operation, authorities seized 33 grams of cocaine and 11.64 grams of MDMA (Methylenedioxymethamphetamine), commonly known as “molly” or “mandy” in crystal form.

The substances were found in the possession of Digbijoy Navis, also known as Diki, aged 37, and Kundan Thakur, 19 years old. Digbijoy Navis resides in Flat No. 4B, Ganapati Enclave, Sewali Path, Dispur Police Station, Kamrup (m), while Kundan Thakur is identified as the son of Lalan Thakur from GC CRPF Camp, Gautam Basti, Khatkhati, Karbi Anglong.

The authorities also seized a black Skoda vehicle with registration number AS01A M0008, three mobile phones, a digital weighing machine, and Rs. 3000 in cash, predominantly in 500 denomination notes. Additionally, other objectionable materials were recovered from the spot.

In a further development, three youths and two girls were detained for questioning in connection with the ongoing investigation.

It is noteworthy that a case has been registered, and authorities are actively tracing links to their activities.

Further investigation is underway.
