Assam: Rahul Gandhi Advocates Local Governance During ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ in state

Guwahati, 19th January: As part of the ongoing ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ in Assam’s Majuli, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi emphasized the need for Assam to be governed locally and not from Delhi. He underscored the significance of preserving regional cultures and languages for India’s future, criticizing the BJP-RSS alliance for promoting centralized control and a uniform national identity.

During his visit on January 19, Rahul Gandhi took a boat ride down the Brahmaputra River to reach the historic Sri Sri Auniati Satra in Assam. He expressed satisfaction with the cultural richness of Assam, home to the revered Auniati Satra established in 1653 AD.

Sharing his experience on social media, Gandhi stated, “Today, took a boat trip down the Brahmaputra River in Assam to visit Sri Sri Auniati Satra. Culturally rich, the land of Shankar Dev Ji, Assam, teaches us the life philosophy of taking everyone along. It felt satisfying to get the opportunity to know and understand such a great culture so closely.”

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh applauded Gandhi’s visit to Auniati Satra, considering it a highlight of the sixth day of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Ramesh emphasized the site’s significance in India’s cultural and religious history, showcasing the diversity that enriches the nation.
