Assam: Raijor Dal to contest two seats in By-polls
Guwahati: The opposition party, Raijor Dal led by activist Akhil Gogoi has stated that it will contest two seats among the five assembly seats where the by-polls will be held on 30 October.
On Wednesday, party leader Akhil Gogoi said that the party has opted to contest for the Thowra and Mariani seats.
Gogoi further informed that the party’s general secretary, Dhaijya Konwar will contest Thowra on behalf of Raijor Dal and candidate for Mariani is yet to be announced by the party.
It may be mentioned that by-polls will also be held in Bhabanipur, Tamulpur, and Gossaigaon in Assam. Despite the fact that Majuli is also empty, no by-poll will be held this time because Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal resigned from his MLA post just hours before the Election Commission declared the schedule.
