Guwahati, 15th October: A railway contractor in Guwahati was arrested on October 15 for reportedly threatening the BJP IT Cell Convenor of the Kamrup (Metro) district Numun Dewan, with a pistol.
Zubair Hussain was apprehended by the Pan Bazar police station team, who also seized the alleged weapon used in the threat.
The arrest stemmed from a formal police complaint filed by Numun Dewan following the incident.
According to reports, the altercation began when Dewan was driving on the wrong side of the road in Guwahati’s Lakhtokia locality.
This led to a dispute between Dewan and Zubair Hussain, who confronted him in the middle of the road. Subsequently, Hussain purportedly produced a pistol from his pocket and used it to intimidate Dewan.
It has also been reported that Zubair Hussain is the brother of Tousif Hussain, the president of the Muslim Students Federation of India.
