Assam: Raj Kumar Chaudhary Appointed Chairman and Managing Director of NHPC Limited
Guwahati, 8th August: Raj Kumar Chaudhary on August 7, 2024 took on the role of Chairman and Managing Director at NHPC Limited, India’s premier hydropower company. Prior to this appointment, Chaudhary served as Director (Technical) at NHPC.
Chaudhary, a civil engineering graduate from BIT Sindri with an Advanced Diploma in Management, began his career with NHPC in 1989 as a Probationary Executive (Civil) at the Koel Karo HE Project in Jharkhand. Over the years, he has held numerous key positions, including Director (Technical) for projects in Bhutan, such as Mangdechhu and Punatsangchhu-II.
His notable achievements include completing the Kalpong HE Project ahead of schedule in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and significantly contributing to the commissioning of the Teesta-V HE Project in Sikkim and the Mangdechhu HE Project in Bhutan. Chaudhary was also instrumental in the repair of the HRT for the 1020 MW Tala HE Project in Bhutan and serves as a nominee director for Ratle Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited.
Chaudhary’s extensive experience spans all phases of hydro-project development, from conceptualization to commissioning.
