Assam: Rampaging Jumbo Wreaks Havoc at Samaguri School
Panic gripped the residents of Bordol in Samaguri last night as a wild elephant went on a destructive rampage, leaving Bordol Amguri Upper Primary School significantly damaged.
According to local sources, the colossal creature breached the school premises late at night, forcefully bringing down the main entrance of the building. It then proceeded to consume a substantial stock of rice, believed to be earmarked for the school’s crucial mid-day meal programme.
The incident has left the school building in a precarious state, sparking considerable apprehension regarding the safety of both students and staff. Fortunately, due to the nocturnal timing of the event, no injuries were reported.
Alerted by the commotion, local villagers swiftly mobilised, rushing to the scene to confront the intruder. They employed traditional methods, including blazing fire torches and a cacophony of loud noises, in a valiant effort to drive the pachyderm away. The elephant eventually retreated into the dense cover of the nearby forest, but a palpable sense of fear continues to linger among the distressed residents.
