Assam: Rangghar Project is the Largest Post-Independence Initiative in Sivasagar, says Akhil Gogoi

Guwahati, 1st February: In an endeavor hailed as one of the most significant since India’s independence, the Assam government launches the ‘Rangghar Beautification Project’ to revitalize the iconic Rang Ghar in Sivasagar.

MLA Akhil Gogoi announces the historic initiative, highlighting Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s commitment with a sanctioned fund of Rs 118 crore and an additional Rs 31 crore for land compensation.

Set to elevate Sivasagar’s presence on the world tourism map, the project aims to rejuvenate the historical structure, Asia’s first amphitheater, with plans for a new amphitheater, water sports pool, cultural village, and guest house.

Emphasizing its importance for Assamese pride, Chief Minister Sarma anticipates the project’s impact on tourism and envisions future site beautification efforts, including the historic Talatal Ghar.

This initiative aligns with broader state efforts to preserve historical landmarks, reflecting the government’s dedication to showcasing Assam’s rich heritage globally.\
