Assam Ranked 8th in Mustard Production
Guwahati: Assam has produced mustard with notable success at the national level.
Assam placed eight in the nation with 1,85,275 metric tonnes of mustard production in 2020-21, According to the reports from Directorate of Rapeseed and Mustard Research, Bharatpur of Rajasthan under the Indian Council ofAgricultural Research.
The top seven states on the list are Gujarat, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Bihar and Punjab are ranked ninth and tenth, respectively.
In the same year, 2,86,353 hectares of agricultural land in Assam were used to grow mustard seeds.
In comparison to previous year, the state’s 2021-22 mustard production has significantly increase.
1,86,129 metric tones of mustard were produced in Assam this year from 2,88,945 hectares of agricultural land.
Agriculture Minister Atul bora congratulated the framers on their accomplishment in growing mustard and stated that the recent involvement of youths forces has started a positive transformation in the state’s agriculture sector.
Additionally, he claimed that the government’s choice to buy mustard at the lowest support price will help mustard growers in the state.
