Assam Records 11 New Cases of JE, Tally at 326

Guwahati: 11 more cases of Japanese encephalitis have been reported from Assam, bringing the total since July 1 to 326 cases.

Karbi Anglong had three new cases out of the total number of reported cases, while the districts of Biswanath, Chirang, and Kamrup each reported two cases, and West Karbi Anglong and Sonitpur each reported one.

Since no fresh fatalities have been reported in the state, the death toll now stands at 52.

Rapid reaction teams have been established by district administrations throughout the state to combat and stop the dangerous disease from spreading.

Japanese encephalitis is a viral brain ailment that is carried by mosquitoes in Assam between May and October each year during the monsoon flood season. Malaria and viral infections are common causes of death at this time.

All of the districts are adhering to the state’s National Health Mission’s standard operating procedures and recommendations for the identification, treatment, and referral of Japanese Encephalitis cases.
