Assam Records Over 380 Cases of Japanese Encephalitis Since July

Guwahati: Assam has recorded approximately 380 cases of Japanese encephalitis since July 2022, claiming the lives of 82.

According to the Assam National Health Mission’s report, 386 cases of JE have been reported during the month of July.

Assam also reported one death and one new case on August 24. Goalpara reported one death while Kamrup reported the latest JE case.

Japanese encephalitis (JE) is an inflammation of the brain caused by the JE virus, which is transmitted to humans by mosquitoes.
