Guwahati: First case of omicron has been reported in Assam on Wednesday. A 13-year-old kid from Sonapur tested positive for the new variant of Covid-19.
According to reports, the boy’s family lives in Mumbai and travelled to Meghalaya on December 21, where he was tested and found to be positive for the Omicron variety.
It was further reported that the family was renting an apartment in Moirakuchi, Sonapur.
Health officials visited the patient’s home after the case was discovered, but he was allegedly absconding. The patient is currently being sought by Sonapur police.
It may be mentioned that in Meghalaya also five cases of the Omicron strain were reported on Tuesday.
